The PaFEDCertification Program is one of the most comprehensive in the United States, and a model other states seek to copy.

Having service technicians who are tested and certified add prestige and professionalism to your company.  Your customers notice the Certification Badge worn by your employees when service work is being done.  Customers sense that you hire competent people and hold them accountable to industry-wide standards.

How Does The Certification Progam Work?

To be eligible for the Certification Program your company must be a PaFED member in good standing and possess adequate liability insurance.

• The Certification Program is a two-step process.  Applicants must first successfully complete the Written Test by receiving a grade of 85%.  The Written Test is given periodically throughout the state.  If the applicant fails this test it may be taken again within one year at no additional cost.

• The Skills Test is given at the State Fire Academy in Lewistown, by Academy personnel.  This test consists of ten skills stations dealing with fire extinguisher inspection and servicing.

• Both Written Test and the Skills Test cost $125.00 per test, per applicant.  Successful candidates receive a Photo ID Badge and a Certificate of Achievement.
